All games use mechanics however, theories and styles differ as to their ultimate importance to the game. Game mechanics are constructs of rules or methods designed for interaction with the game state, thus providing gameplay. Play sarcastic Hawke in DA2 it is the only way to play! DA2 gets repetitive in the gameplay and the areas are even more isolated than Origins, but the story is good enough and the characters are fun.
You might struggle at the start of Origins like I certainly did but after the first 2-3 hours when you meet more characters it gets much better.ĭAO and DA2 are more linear than Inquisition however so expect this, you don't have huge zones to explore rather set paths in big zones. Makes you feel more involved, so yeah I'd say go ahead. I just started playing DAI again today and already just within Haven the conversations you have with characters are different, make reference to the previous games and your choices made. I bought DA2 also to play after which is less clunky and faster paced, it also explains the events that happen before DAI which are mentioned in the earlier stages of the game. (which was why I never completed it before), but the world, story and characters hold it together. The gameplay is VERY different however and I personally disliked the fighting since I don't like traditional RPG/top down games i.e. I bought Inquisition in the Origin sale over Christmas and after playing for a couple of hours, I decided on a whim I'd actually finally finish DAO since I hadn't beaten it yet despite owning it for years.
